Ethiopian Diaspora Associations Coalition called on the Diaspora community to stand by the government to overcome Ethiopia’s multi faceted problems.
Bahir Dar 13 August, 2021 (AMC) In a statement on current affairs, Ethiopian Diaspora Associations Coalition said that, the role of the Diaspora community, especially with regard to the Renaissance Dam, has been commendable.
Coalition Chairperson Mrs. Sosina Wegayehu said, Ethiopians living abroad have been supporting their country at various times. Acknowledging that the Diaspora is contributing to their country in various ways, she called on everyone to keep on the support to overcome the challenges facing Ethiopia.
She said the threat to the country’s survival problem is also being noticed in the economy too. To prevent this, she said, the Diaspora should be vigilant while sending money to friends and relatives by following legal channels.
Sosina also underscored the need to be ware of double dealers while transferring money.
Sosina said, those who want to support their country financially will benefit their nation if they only transfer the money to legally authorized government-fundraisers.
She said, countries that have collapsed and suffered severe economic losses are due to internal problems, adding that Ethiopians living abroad should work for the peace and stability of their country.
Oromia Diaspora Council Secretary and Member of the Coalition, Musa Shekur, said Egypt is conspiring to aggravate this internal crisis and come between Ethiopia and its neighboring countries to dismantle the nation and prevent Ethiopia from gaining support.
In particular, the Diaspora is called upon to fulfill their national responsibilities by defending the truth using different languages to explain the reality.
